Challenge:
The USVI Office of Highway Safety performs extremely important everyday functions within the territory in order to maintain law and order and traffic control. As the department’s responsibilities in the territory are becoming increasingly diverse and demanding, the need to innovate has been felt by many. For example, the conversion of data and records into an easily accessible and readily available form was felt. The need to disseminate information among the target population via an easy to access medium was necessary. The training of staff members on futuristic technologies and in some cases basic computer knowledge was also necessary. The department realized their shortcomings and contracted TABS to help them turn around their procedures.
TABS Solution:
Performing an in-depth critical analysis of the functions and expected outcomes of the department helped the graphics division of TABS (BiZVI Grafix) to propose certain customized products for the department. These included a robust web system, designed and developed specifically keeping in mind the department; additionally an online system was developed that would keep electronic records of paper work, documentation and records within the department.
The proposed web system with its robust, futuristic features assisted directly to counter the weaknesses of the Office of Highway Safety and moreover positioned the Office in a manner that moved them up the ladder considering other departments of the same nature as operating in the Caribbean.
TABS Effect:
The Department, we are proud to say, was so pleased with the solutions offered by TABS that both parties are currently in the discussion phase for the development of other software systems that will be used to increase the efficiencies of different parts of the Office of Highway Safety. Solutions offered by our company are being implemented in all US Virgin Islands with great success. The Department’s increase in effectiveness proves to be of benefit to the entire Virgin Islands community.
