Who is viNGN?
The Virgin Islands Next Generation Network (viNGN) was established in 2010 as a public corporation; a wholly owned subsidiary of the Virgin Islands Public Finance Authority. viNGN was funded primarily from a grant by the National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) as part of federal program to improve the broadband capacity in the United States, its territories and the District of Columbia, the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).

viNGN seeks to benefit all Virgin Islands residents by introducing fast, reliable Internet service through the installation of broadband infrastructure and Public Computing Centers. Supported by federal grants through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, viNGN will work with local businesses to install technology that will create new opportunities by enabling a more efficient exchange of information. Plans for the network include laying 300 miles of fiber-optic cable to provide a high-speed network as an incentive for private companies to develop connections allowing home and business users to link into the broadband infrastructure.
